It can't write files to Dropbox, which is a drawback, and it can't run Scrivener but otherwise it's a useful computer. We...I haven't had any problems with FF in ages. Well, it does get pissy if there is an update downloaded but waiting for install. <br /><br />Windows does the same thing on patch Tuesday. (I've taken to "pausing updates" and then starting them manually right before I turn in.) <br /><br />Are you sure you don't have a failing hard-drive? Something that intermittently can't read a sector?
