As noted above, it is where the streams cross, or rather the scales. On the other hand, -40 with no wind is not as brutal as -20 with a 25 mph wind.fast richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05947715402204312013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5837660608809488753.post-47086746356564239072017-01-08T22:12:24.858-05:002017-01-08T22:12:24.858-05:00-40F and -40C are the same! :)-40F and -40C are the same! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5837660608809488753.post-52875716667895250992017-01-08T08:53:36.939-05:002017-01-08T08:53:36.939-05:00The - 40 brings back some frosty memories.

Mechanized skidders were just on the horizon.

Iron-clad rule in winter: stay indoors if colder than -40.

Reason: your lungs - and the horses' - can get frostbite inhaling large gasps of icy air (working hard)!

The thermometer: a bit of rye whisky in a bottle outside the window. It turns to slush at -40. So if you saw slush, you just stayed inside and opened a full crock of rye :-).

John Peddie (Toronto)https://www.blogger.com/profile/13352390633776699430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5837660608809488753.post-24064268982971450852017-01-08T00:35:56.957-05:002017-01-08T00:35:56.957-05:00Bitter cold days are why big, honk'in tube lin...Bitter cold days are why big, honk'in tube linears were invented.

Or, huddle over the RF cage of a lower-band AM 'phone x-mitter.

Have you made any progress on that little 20 watt AM rig you've been restoring?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5837660608809488753.post-74501044091034467822017-01-07T20:26:53.996-05:002017-01-07T20:26:53.996-05:00It's 0xFE K, of course. It's 0xFE K, of course.Josephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04720409839023747889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5837660608809488753.post-65490636796958062342017-01-07T16:35:09.339-05:002017-01-07T16:35:09.339-05:00Well, if you call it 458 degrees Rankine, it sound...Well, if you call it 458 degrees Rankine, it sound almost balmy.Jerryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09512155016462081947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5837660608809488753.post-66399241892929327702017-01-07T12:23:06.760-05:002017-01-07T12:23:06.760-05:00-40F = -40 C it is the crossover point of both sca...-40F = -40 C it is the crossover point of both scalesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5837660608809488753.post-3474449377650048482017-01-07T12:00:55.621-05:002017-01-07T12:00:55.621-05:00Obviously because it's:
