The man responsible for the modern aerosol spray-valve had a last name that sounded a bit like a spray can running empty!
He was a talented inventor, holding hundreds of patents. His spray valve made him wealthy and he applied his wealth to philanthropy. It would only confuse you to add that Robert Abplanalp was a close friend of Richard Nixon and Bebe Rebozo -- but it's a confusing world.
He graduated my high school alma-mater, and was quite a philanthropist there. I had the opportunity to meet him when I was there. Nice man.
ReplyDeleteHe certainly appears to have been remarkably talented!
ReplyDeleteHe had a name like something that kept H.P. Lovecraft up at night.
ReplyDeleteIn the lobby of Precision Valve's factory in Yonkers, NY,, they had a small hobbyist's lathe in a display case. It was the lathe that Abplanalp used in developing his prototype aerosol valve.
ReplyDeleteA man, a plan, a canal, Abplanalp.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't quite work, does it.
If one Bozos again, is that a re-Bozo?
ReplyDeletegfa
PS - Sadly, I'm old enough to remember them all!
Biff Pocoroba!
ReplyDeleteFor bonus points, his actual given first name was "Biff"!
Okay, try saying THOSE four names rapidly three times while less than dead cold sober.
