Other Days, I'd Rather Hold Targets For The Marines

Modesty, good taste and a modicum of discretion limit the extent of my comments but today was a perfectly offal, er, awful day at the Skunk Works and the entire week has been suboptimal.

Oh, the excitement! Oh, the glamor! Oh... Oh, the kvetching. Every two weeks, they write me a check, a process which must gall terribly. Feh. Still on the six-day weeks, so tomorrow I will at least be unfairly chided at time and a half.

Update: as predicted. Y'know, it's becoming routiine.

  2. Heh.

I remember one day, early in my career in this bidness we call Show, a rainy day on a muddy site, two days before an onslaught of 40,000 screaming hippies. The promoter burst into the office trailer, looking like a drowned rat, shaking water off like a shaggy dog. He looked at me with a toothy grin and said, "Isn't rock-and-roll glamorous?"

  3. I just found out that MY show is doing the Big Broadcast from Indianapolis tomorrow.

    But they're leaving me BEHIND!!

I could have got up to date with Roberta, attended the Indy Mini Blog Meetup, had all the expenses paid AND been paid for it...

    But NOOOO!!!

  4. One of the Other Big Shows is airin' outta my employer's jernt, come the morrow. I will not be there; somehow I managed to avoid gettin' tapped for that crew.

Setup I did, all day today and some yesterday.

The gang from The Network have been nothing but good: very nice to work with, unfailingly polite and uniformly competent. Even the Talent for this shindig turns out to be a personable, soft-spoken sort who fits right into the team.

I have been, I hope, very coy about the "who" and "what" of this, 'cos y'know? I can't stand the Dems but they deserve to fail on their own merits. Or, WTH, even succeed. I won't like it but the game's got rules.
