...For your delectation: The Delahaye!
BBCAmerica's "Top Gear" has been running promos for their season-opener, featuring a sleek Alfa-Romeo hardtop they describe as "the most beautiful car in the world." Oh, I'll grant it's a lovely vehicle, but it's no Delahaye. It's about even with, say, a Cord 812.
I LOVE Cords!
ReplyDeleteNow get to sleep!
That's not bad, but sorry, the title of "World's Most Beautiful Car" is already taken by the H6B Hispano-Suiza Tulipwood Torpedo. ;)
ReplyDeleteWV: "hoption" Yep, it's got some of that.
More of a Packard and Deusenberg fan myself, but those are purty, too.
ReplyDeleteThe 810 Phaeton and the 812 were always favorites. Just wish I could afford a large picture of one. On the other hand, the Alfa will be almost completely non functional in 8 years, so it will be most inexpensive.
ReplyDeleteDo not forget the Bugatti T57S Atlantic coupe...
ReplyDeleteCount me in with Farmist!
ReplyDeleteYou have to write it like Clarkson says it-

Many years ago I saw one of those wooden Hispanos being restored, taken entirely apart. Every piece of it was polished and finished better than a modern commercial gun. Just lovely.
Lovely rides all, they are, but for my money (which will never be sufficient to actually cover getting one) they've all a long hill to climb before approaching the loveliness (and price tag)of the Maybach Exelero
ReplyDeleteWV: condang - Con-DANG that's one pricey car!
I'm a fan of the vintage Jag roadsters...
