NYC, 1928

Courtesy Weird Universe, Harold Lloyd -- supported by a non-actor you'll recognize -- takes us on a drive through New York City traffic a mere eighty-one years ago. --I'd embed it but better you should enjoy in context!

...Back? I know how the wilder driving scenes were accomplished (just like you think), a nicely-done example of an early technical effect but the balance work? Probably had some hardware to help but that's a gen-u-ine practical stunt. Yowza!

(Bonus: accompanied by my all-time fave style of music. And I don't care who knows. Brave, I am).

  2. Trivia: Harold Lloyd wore a prosthetic device on his right hand due to the loss of his thumb and a finger in a 1919 accident.

  4. Congrats on recalling this giant talent. No one who's seen him hang from those clock hands ever thinks of Chaplin again.
