Or something; it's an AP story (motto: "Don't quote us! We'll sue! We'll sue!") but it makes for interesting reading withal. A significant fraction of those "stimulus" jobs are 40 hours or less of paid work, total. Not "per week," per the entire job: it takes forty hours and you're back on the sidewalk, tryin' to remember who you know within walking distance who'll let you sleep on their couch. But for Congress, this counts as a "job created by the stimulus, lookit how well it is working!" For this, they are picking your pocket. And your children's pockets and their children's pockets and on and on....
Forget reading for the law, kiddo; if you wanna be a politician when you grow up, take up prestidigitation.

We have 'stimulus workers' dumped on us at school. Unemployed young folks who have applied through some community organized whatzis. They all have a striking resemblance to each other... quite monochrome in fact. They were all told they have a job for six weeks, and to show up. The school didn't know they were coming.... they just appeared one morning. Now we have to find minders for 'teams' of stimulus workers who are unskilled in anything that actually needs doing. This is taking the skilled workers off the jobs that really need to be done.
Go team!
Cool. I created a job this morning when I ate breakfast and tipped the server. Of course, that job ended when I was finished, but the next time I eat out, I will create another.
Ah yes, brings back memories of CETA.

I'd call that more of a tease than a stimulus.
