But nooooooo. Turns out they cooked the books and now we've got this:
.DISCUSSION...That's from NWS's "Discussion" page. The forecast? Cold, wet and windy today. Tomorrow, the fun starts:
IR SATELLITE IS SHOWING THE STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM THAT
WILL BRING BLIZZARD CONDITIONS TO PORTIONS OF THE PLAINS AND
MIDWEST IS CURRENTLY CENTERED OVER THE DESERT SOUTHWEST.
AHEAD OF IT...SNOW IS FALLING OVER MOST OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS.
.WEDNESDAY...WINDY...CLOUDY. CHANCE OF RAIN UNTIL MIDDAY...THENFrom the 40s to the teens in under 12 hours. Rain changing to snow, which (IMO) makes ice a good possibility. Some of the other models are calling for winds well over 50 mph but NWS's meteorologists are cautious gamblers. Most of the Midwest is gettin' this, so it's not like it's just me -- but is it really coincidence this happens right after the wheels fall off some of the strongest supposed evidence for anthropogenic global warming?
CHANCE OF SNOW IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 40S.
SOUTHWEST WINDS 20 TO 30 MPH SHIFTING TO THE WEST 30 TO 35 MPH IN
THE AFTERNOON. GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION
50 PERCENT.
.WEDNESDAY NIGHT...WINDY. MUCH COLDER. MOSTLY CLOUDY THEN
BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS AROUND 15. WEST WINDS 20 TO 30 MPH.
GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH DECREASING TO 35 MPH AFTER MIDNIGHT.
I think not! (She says with crazed self-assurance).
...You fetch the pitchforks; I'll warm up some tar and make torches, too. This can only be those AGW guys tryin' to retaliate from their hilltop castle labs and we don't have to stand for it! ;) *

Woo-hoo! Bring it, Skippy!
ReplyDeleteSnow and ice is just Nature's Bleach. It kills bugs, germs and the drifters under the White River bridges!
Shootin' Buddy
A riot ees un uuugly tsing ...
ReplyDeleteIf I ever make one of these blog meets I've got a pretty good story about what happens after it warms up enough to both melt the existing snow down to a uniform layer of ice, and rain.

Paging Al Gore...your 15 minutes are up. And after yesterday, my wife would like to have a word with you; she'll be speaking baseball bat to the noggin.
ReplyDeleteSwap you my forecast for yours and kick in a videotape of Bill Clinton explaining what is is.
ReplyDeleteThere's a reason we northern plains folk are so incredibly good with negative number calculations.
Hey! Why is it I always have to heat the tar and light the torches when it's hot out, and you always get to do it when it's cold?!
ReplyDeleteHe said, wondering what happened to the "El Nino=warm PacNW winter" model...
WV: micavac. What a geologist uses to clean up the shop.
I'll bring a few extra pitchforks, but I'm a little short on tar, so bring enough to share...
ReplyDeleteB-b-but aren't hot tar and burning torches bad for the environment?
ReplyDeleteOff topic comment!

Don't feel sorry for yourself, feel sorry for Europe. Take a gander at this Atlantic Ocean "NowCast" from NOAA:

That white worm running up the Atlantic seaboard is the Gulf Stream. As you can see, the GS scatters into a jillion pieces off Long Island.
At the moment, and for the foreseeable future, the GS is NOT warming Dublin, Edinburgh, or Copenhagen.
And the weekend forecast calls for steam heated underwear and down filled outerwear in Copenhagen for the weekend.
Stranger
Stranger: Yeah, but in Copehagen the prostitutes are free if you're an attendee, so that will do more than glow-ball warming ever will for some.
ReplyDeleteTree rings tell us the earth's atmosphere and temperature is constantly changing, but these idiots won't recognize that.
