Did I Hear The TV Right?
So the talk-show host leans over the heavy guest he's berating and huffs, "When you say, 'I will not exercise, nor shall I alter my diet,' you have increased your chances of developing a heart condition grammatically."
My favorite, from my own experience covering the Virginia legislature for public TV decades ago, was when our "veteran Capitol correspondent" told our viewers, "Many of the legislators on this committee are diabolically opposed to this bill."

ReplyDeleteGrammar's nothing to mess around with. If a dangling modifier breaks loose, it can shoot straight to the brain.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the time is right to stand up that regiment of nuns to go around and crack such people across the back of their hands with a yardstick.
