This Just In

North Dakota not actually a State.

Does this mean the feds have to give 'em back all their income tax?

  2. Well, you know, low, sloping foreheads, Red State, thriving economy... It'll get fixed after the 2012 election.

  3. I don't recall the details anymore, but back about 1981, the State of Nevada realized the southern tip - containing Las Vegas (take the northern border of AZ straight across to CA) - was not officially part of the state. They had an election in'82.

If they hadn't allowed the disputed area to vote, it wouldn't have passed. Another state? the State of Las Vegas? Interesting contemplation...
Would have been better for the state of Nevada though.

  4. The North Dakota state constitution does not require some officials to take an oath of loyalty to the US federal government.

That is ok, the requirement is in the Federal constitution, and is still a requirement even if not repeated by the state constitution, just like the 2nd Amendment to the federal constitution applies to California, though CA has no similar clause in its state constitution.

ND officials have been taking the oath, as required by the federal constitution.
