The Very Large Cat (And Friends)

Huck the cat, of course, shown here napping near -- but not too near -- Miss Rannie Wu:
And for a better idea of scale, laying atop a book with Tam's forearm in the background. Yes, more than a cubit of cat, and 16 pounds, too.He napped next to me though mid-day (I have a night shift tonight and a loooong day tomorrow), quite content.

  1. The Bob, who looks quite similar to Huck (and I think adopted us at the same time as Huck found you), is now weighing in at 19 pounds. He's quite the kitty also.

  2. As I remarked to Bobbi this morning: "His skull is wider than my palm!" :D

  3. (For the doubters: My sleeve is brushing his fur in the bottom picture. He looked up, blinked sleepily, and went back to dozing, convinced that there was nothing around he couldn't solve by biting.)

  4. Tiggr is 19 pounds and change. Although he has weighed over 20 in the past. I fully expect him to perform CPR if I ever have a heart attack. (Rescue breathing is no longer required with CPR, per my WSI-trainer wife who deals with the Red Cross on a regular basis, so no kitty breath to worry about.)

  5. Midwest Chick - Bob will eat your waffle if you look away for a moment. That is a cat that likes his people food. Bring out a steak and a big old baked potato and I fully expect him to go "look a squirrel" and I turn back to an empty plate. But I think, of all your cats, he is my favorite.

Roberta - Huck's a good kitty though when he sniffs my hand when I come in, I'm wondering if he's asking if I am friendly, or tasty. He was a good addition to the household.

  6. I have to admit, I was happy that it was Rannie that decided to sleep on the couch with me rather than Huck.

"Did one of my feet suddenly gain 30 pounds?"

  7. Good lord, you have been feeding him all those big breakfasts instead of yourselves...

  8. PHQ: The couch is one of Rannie's favorite spots! --For such a tepermental creature, she can be quite snuggly when she decides to.

Huck is usually a good sharer of space; he's a lot more more likely to choose "beside" rather than "on."

  9. ...And Robin (and everyone): Huck is on a diet: 1/3 cup of Science Diet, twice a day. Period.

    He is still getting bigger.

  10. Nice kitty, nice kitty (slowly backing out the door).

  11. If Huck gets much bigger you'll need a whip and chair just to move about the house.

  12. He's like a geico "Rescue Panther".

  13. Roberta, a diet? Ya sure? Maybe you should search him for a hidden can opener ...

  14. Meh. That's nothing. We live with a pair of 18 pounders. Cuddly 18 pounders.

  15. Roberta, you sure Huck isn't finding unauthorized supplements for his diet? Any dogs missing in the neighborhood?

  16. We have Quigley, he's about 16 lbs of pure muscle. His tail is even buff.

I would get rid of him because he is a bigmouth, but he adopted the boy as his human and so now we are stuck with him.

  17. Tam wasn't kidding when she accused us of stealing your cats...
