Gun Show!

What, again? Yep! Today and tomorrow. The doors open at 9:00 a.m.

This show is at the Fort Benjamin Harrison National Guard Armory, over by Ft. Ben State Park in Lawrence. I don't know who is promoting it.

(Don't get me started about the nice pistol range the State de-leaded and decommssioned in the process of turning the Army base into a park. --But it is a beautiful park; the Army had taken good care of the place, one of the few mostly-unfenced bases -- you could drive right through it, 24/7/351. It was park-like long before it became one.)

  1. Which two weeks was it closed? Why? Just vulgarly curious...

  2. Exercises! --They'd barricade the gates, (presumeably) split up into offense and defense, and go to it.

  4. The Army tends to be pretty good at groundskeeping. Got to give those GI's SOMETHING to do.

I well remember lining up with the rest of my battery on the grounds outside the barracks and, at the command of, "If a dog didn't sh*t it, git it!" policing up the area.

    Good times, good times...

  5. Damn!

Was just at the Triton brewery a few days ago.

Stop by and try it out, it's definitely worth it.

BYOS (Bring Your Own Snacks) or they have a mobile vendor stop by their parking lot most evenings.

  6. I'm not sure I want to know what kind of exercises they did at the US Army Finance Center, but I knew several guys who probably thought their pay was a casualty...

  7. The Fort proper was across the street and included DINFOS...so they may have been "fighting" with camcorders. It sounded like WW 3.

  8. Yeah, it's a pity the state had to chicken out and close up that range. It's only two mintues from home!
