I'm still no fan of his policies, politics or even his choice of friends. But President Obama did something right and he deserves credit: He has refused to say the name of the murderous jerk who shot up a theater full of people.
That simple step, denying fame to the evil, is something anyone can do. Unless you're a fan of insanity, you're opposed to attacks on innocent people. Pro-gun, anti-gun, Left, Right, Center or Up, you can refuse to use the killer's name. The desire to be "known" seems to be a factor in this kind of deadly insanity and we need not play along with it -- not you, not me, and not the guy with the "bully pulpit" I'm gonna vote against come November.
It says something gallant about you to offer that praise, but I'm not as good a person as you are. He jumped on Air Force One just as fast as he could to be photographed on lip-bite duty. His presence is 110% political, and he means to use this to damage the Second Amendment.
ReplyDeleteHe made it to Colorado to comfort fire victims--after he had gotten all his fundraising done. Remember the apology to Brian Terry's family? Remember when he rushed to comfort those flood victims in Tennessee his first year in office? Nope, me neither. Tennessee was carried by McCain.
Mike James
Oh, he's a jerk, and riding this for all he can get. But he did manage to do one thing right.
ReplyDeleteIf he moves against the Second Amendment now, he will not be re-elected.
Too bad every news channel and radio station is falling over themselves to make sure we don't forget his name. Or his ugly mug.
ReplyDeleteBest NCIS I ever saw was the one where the perp was doing whatever it was he was doing for his 15 minutes of fame. Next scene is the nightly snooze showing a question mark over a silohuette and the news reader intoning something to the effect that a suspect was apprehended but no information about his identity had been released...
Send that little jerk to Gitmo to rot, I say. (No, the Colorado shooter, not Obama. Although there are days...)
According to a radio news report I heard this morning, one of the victims' family members asked the President and his spokesperson to not use the suspect's name. Props to the President for agreeing, but the idea seems to have been sourced elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteThe cynic in me predicts that Barry O. will mention Rush Limbaugh by name when he starts aportioning blame.
ReplyDeleteHe may -- and if he does, he will be criticized for it.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to be able to have a President that isn't 100% worthless; I'd like to be able to point out actual, real common ground. Not every damned thing needs to be a total divide and if the commies and the Birchers can both find it in their hearts to just deny the bastard the evil glory he sought, we will all come out ahead.
There's plenty else to fight about.
Amen, Sister, Amen. The last Prez I voted _for_ was Regan. like hin or no, I Felt he tried to act in the nation's best interests, and didn't care what history or the press made of him. A Happy Warrior. Every other election, seems I gotta vote. _AGAINST_ some ass-hat who wants to restrict my liberty. For my own good, of course. Bastards.
ReplyDeleteAnd Fox News didn't help any by splashing that smirking photo of [name redacted] at the top of their website for over two days.
ReplyDeleteSCOAMF simply can't stand to mention any name but his own.
ReplyDelete(Trying to type through cat perched on chest, pardon typoes...)
