Don't Be Fooled--

     Sure, the sign says, CROSS TRAFFIC DOES NOT STOP, but the truth is, the happy, smiling, friendly traffic doesn't stop, either.

    One of my favorite doggerel writers, Ogden Nash, had a poem centered around the traditional crosswalk sign:

    CROSS
    children
    WALK

    He added the notion:

    CHEERFUL
    children
    RIDE
