I had a 1975 Kawasaki Z1 900cc rice rocket. It had a Goodyear A/T Eagle rear tire that was seriously hard rubber. On a painted crosswalk line it would break loose with the gentlest of acceleration. On a wet road it was terrifying & I lost all interest in how many miles it would last. Luckily I was living in Southern CA, so rain wasn't a big threat.

Merle: Mine is an actual, Vespa-type scoote. 10" wheels. Contact patch about the side of a fifty-cent piece. Not really so much in the rain.
