...And My Printer Is Unhappy
Or is it the driver? The printer will print out a report of status and setting nice as can be, but the computer can't get it to print. It's not the cable, tried that this morning. Out of time to mess with it for now, other than a quick websearch.
I can only speak from my own experience and in absolute ignorance about your specific situation (nothing new there). When you go to Control Panel and then to Devices and Printers, does the correct model of printer show as the default printer? Does your printer dialogue box show any documents in the queue?
I had the same problem recently. Turned out my print spooler somehow got set to "manual" as opposed to "automatic." This meant that it would not start up on system boot up.
Start windows task manager and click on the "Services" tab. Find the service named "Spooler." Look at the "status" column and if it says "stopped" that is most likely your problem. To start the spooler, right click on it. A box should pop up and give you an option to "start service." click on that and see if that helps your problem.

Why would a printer complain about whatever golf implement you are about to use on it?
ReplyDeleteOh, not that kind of driver.
Never mind.
Is it an HP? Do you have a job stuck in the spool? It may be that the connection is broken and can't be reset.

Does it print a test page from the windows control panel/printers and other devices?
ReplyDeleteNope. Windas ain't a-talkin' to it.
ReplyDeleteMight could be broke.
