Appears I've got 'em. Scheduled to see the eye doctor tomorrow at 8:55 a.m. "Blepharitis," which sound to me like what you call it when an elephant suffers severe wind.
Until I see the doc, the professional advice is to wash one's face with baby shampoo and lay off the makeup. Have been doing and will keep on doing.
No well-meaning advice, please, and especially if you've never had this. No silver, no half-onions, none of that. We pay a class of arcane specialists to work on this stuff and they're better than you think.
Something like that happened to me recently when I saw that picture of John Kerry kissing the President of France. Did that cause yours, too?
ReplyDeleteSilver onions?

The first time I had that, the ophthalmologist sent me after "eye scrub" or some such, and gauze pads to wash the margins of my eyelids. The next time it happened, some years later, I was seeing a different eye doc, who suggested a drop of baby shampoo in a cup of water, then dip a wash cloth in it and wash gently. Makeup was not a contributor in my case...
ReplyDeleteIt's really amazing what ya can learn on the internet....
ReplyDeleteInflamed eyelids and eyebleach...

I had it a few times when I was a kid. They gave me a tube of antibiotic goo which I put in my eyes at 6 hr intervals. It stung a bit, and it was hard to see for a couple minutes but the crud went away after a few days. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMy ex the nurse threw out her eyeliner and mascara every month or so, said it was to prevent infections.

Al: one does have to do that, yes. And something like this means I've got to replace them all.
ReplyDeleteI have chronic hives and sometimes get them around my eyes, so I can sympathize. Allergies also affect my eyes. Itchy gritty eyes are not fun.
ReplyDeleteDo what the essperts say and get better soonest.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you need makeup for?
ReplyDeleteBruce: adherence to social norms? Trying to keep my eyes from looking tiny though my glasses? The latter is utter vanity; I'm quite nearsighted and no amount of goop corrects the optical effect. Aw, well.
