If I was a zillionaire, I'd buy the little New Hampshire town where the
first votes are cast in national elections* and rename it "Rising Gorge."

That made me laugh out loud, for real.
ReplyDeleteI like it. You get to change the high school mascot and everything.
ReplyDeleteHow about "Slackjaw"? Slackjaw, New Hampshire.
Sorry,
ReplyDeleteI'm going to buy a Caribbean Island and build my own Navy!!!
With a Zillion dollars I should be able to afford a carrier to launch my Gulfstream from.
Wonder if Sparrow missiles can be mounted to the wings of a Gulf Stream. :-)

ReplyDeleteThey can if you've got a Zillion dollars, but why not just buy a F-n-A-18 or two?

ReplyDeleteTo escort my Gulf Stream? :-)
LCB, I like the way you think.
ReplyDeleteThat one wins the Intarwebz for the day!!!

ReplyDeleteNo. (said the hopeless pedant). Sparrow missiles are radar-guided, and depend on a radar beam from the launching aircraft to guide them. So you'd need a fighter radar in your Gulfstream, which probably wouldn't work very well for lots o' reasons. What you really want is Sidewinder missiles, which are completely self-guided heat-seekers. All you need is mounting pylons (1 under each wing - must keep things balanced), a control circuit, and a launch button.
Roberta X wants to take over the world and leave you alone!
ReplyDeleteExcept when she mocks you. You probably deserve that.
Drang, that works for me...
ReplyDeleteShe and Tam have both refused to even consider being drafted.
ReplyDeleteDamn it.
Conscription is slavery, dear; and slavery is wrong.
ReplyDeleteBut, yes, my reign of terror would consist of leaving people alone -- and working out new ways to spread that particular gospel.
