New Year

I'm typing this in 2015.  You're reading it in 2016.  If it weren't for my Mom, Tamara, the cats and my few RL friends, I would not be joining you.

I have no interest in the actual future.  It looks pretty damn bleak.  Our next President is going to be worse than what we have now (and Present Occupant at 1600 Penn. is set to take a whizz all over the Second Amendment any day now, probably in his State of the Union speech); there's not a one of the candidates who understands the Bill of Rights or has more than a lip-service grasp of the notion of "limited government."  Every last one of them would bite the had head off a bald eagle to get the job -- and that's the bowdlerized version of my opinion of them

Meanwhile, World War Three is spinning up in the MidEast.  We can count of President Next and his or her Congress to make the most of it, at our expense.

2016 arrives with heavy freight -- and more of the same every day.  Mind your manners, mind the gap, mind your back.

  1. Other than "had off a bald eagle" (not throwing rocks, some of my typos have been epic), I agree. My mother looks at the news and the prospects for the future and she gives thanks for being old.

  2. I've got an 8 year old grandson. I fear the world he'll inherit.

  3. Does this mean you won't be rolling out your "NO!" campaign? Man, I was looking forward to voting FOR somebody.

Look at the bright side--you just got a new (to you) Smith, and experiencing The Tam IRL has be a hoot. Remember also that your "IRL" friends are more than most people have, if your criteria for "friend" is as stringent as I suspect it is. You are blessed in ways that count. Stop the car and let Winston's black dog out. Then slam the door and drive off.

As a parting thought, remember that there are more than a few of us random stranger types that care about you, too. For whatever pittance that is worth.

    Warmest regards,
    Drifter

  4. Sorry. That was supposed to say..."few" IRL friends...

Why is the spellcheck button always labeled "Publish"?

  6. Just remember that the people and felines mentioned in paragraph 1 are more important than anything else mentioned in this post.

  10. I wish I lived next door or across the street from you and Tam! I have friends that LIVE like you do, here in Colorado Springs. We don't have the heavy-duty ghetto scene but we are working on it in the SE quadrant of town. Thank you for sharing a bit of your life and what interests you. Those things interest me too. Viva education!

  11. Sounds like you are ready to hitch Huck and Rannie Wu to your chariot and enter the fray with the Ride of the Valkerie blasting out the announcment of your arrival on the field of battle.
As appealing as that visual is to me I would prefer you continue to wage your war using your clarity of thought and your well-sharpened pen.
You are too valuable to scream "Odin" and jump into the wolf pit.
You contribute much more than free ice cream. You promote thinking amongst us.
    Thanks.
Happy New Year to those who find shelter in Roseholme Cottage. Even Rannie Wu.

  12. Tis true, the ballot box offers little for those who believe in freedom and personal responsibility, but the tide will eventually turn. In the meantime, maybe living well, with your RL friends and enjoying your hobbies, is the best revenge.

Perhaps one day you will feel like posting on the Retrotechnologist again.

  13. How is Ted Cruz deficient in the Constitution?

He appears the best of the (not very stellar) lot in that regard...

  14. "He appears the best of the (not very stellar) lot in that regard..."

    I think you answered yourself.
