The Weather Hurt Yesterday

It was a windy, lovely day.  It was shockingly warm despite the gusty breezes that shook dead branches from the trees, but I didn't spend much time out in it.

The barometer was falling, too, you see.  Falling fast and as it fell, I had sharp. staggering pains in the left side of my skull.  Yeah, had it for years and yeah, should have expected it--  But I didn't, and it still  hurts like hell.  I got a few things done around the house (including nice from-scratch oyster & vegetable stew for dinner) but mostly I just endeavored to persevere.

  1. I love that line from Chief Dan George, in 'The Ballad of Josey Wales'.

'Indians Vow to Endeavor to Persevere!

The end result was burning their medals and fancy clothes, and declaring war on the white man.

In our modern times, we don't have such an easy target. I'm sometimes ready to declare war, but against who or what? Too many choices.

Sorry about the headache, hope you feel better. And if you can find a suitable object for making war on, let me know. I'm fresh out of ideas.

  3. Uh, okay, steve. I will go to your blog to discus this there. It somehow seems a little inappropriate to steal someone else's blog to discus religion.
Roberta, I hope your migraine gets better. I know the problem all too well. I also love the line about endeavoring to persevere. It seems kind of fitting given the political rhetoric being tossed about at the unwashed masses like me. I feel so unworthy when I hear the fantastic presidential candidates we have right now.
I think I should go lie down til after November elections are done.

  5. Do I come to your blog and preach agnosticism? I do not. Perfectly okay with me if people want to believe whatever but they don't get to use my soapbox to preach it.

People, it's like Unk says, "I don't do this to amuse you. I do it to amuse me." And it's not nearly as amusing as it used to be. Keep it up and there won't be anything here.

  6. "Oh, look, the nice lady is not feeling well, I'll go beat her over the head with my beliefs..."

Sheesh. And there I was feeling virtuous (relatively...) for not coming here and trying to make you feel better by kvetching abut how much pain Ive been feeling lately. (Note: Spell check knows how to spell "kvetching".)

Hope you feel better. Also, since we're at it, hope your employer starts expecting you to work fewer miracles, while still paying you what you're really worth.

  7. DW, I think you know as well as I do they can't afford to pay our esteemed hostess what she is worth...

She is the queen of Technonecromancy (bringing equipment back from the dead)....

    Hope you feel better soon.
