Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte says she will support a Democratic amendment to allow the government to ban the sale of guns to suspected terrorists, a reversal after voting against a similar version in December.
Ayotte, who is in a tough re-election race in New Hampshire, says she will vote for the amendment sponsored by Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California.
This slick move comes ten days after the filing deadline for her uncontested primary. Granite-staters, have you at least got an LP candidate? I know you have the phone number for her office; I'm sure her staff would love to hear from you.

I tend to have a loooong memory when it comes to my MI representatives, and I also tend to reward good behavior and punish bad behavior. Bad behavior includes poor responses to my e-mails to their offices about issues. I don't care if they tell me to pound sand, I am voting this way on the bill because of such and such. I can respect them for that. I do care about getting a canned response saying thanks for contacting me and you can be sure that I will blah, blah, blah.
I do have certain issues that are absolutes for me, but surprisingly few. Guns, of course, and personal freedom types, as I understand them, and beyond that, I follow things on a case by case basis, and I do mean that I try to follow them.
I suspect that my representative in the state house doesn't hear from a lot of us. I am one that he does.
Just in my personal experience, its probably a stretch to say that 1% of Americans have ever contacted their representatives.
