The dollar bill is for scale. I'm tempted to name this gun "Sting." |
The Spanish .380 showed up at our local gun store (Indy Arms Co.) for a song. Intrigued, I sang. Except for the external extractor, it's more a miniature 1911 than any I have seen, right down to the grip safety and sliding trigger.
Yes, it's a Llama, and the finish shows it. However, the safeties work, the sights are pretty well lined up and it's been running fine.
I've owned a lot of Llamas over the years. I still have a IIIA in hard chrome and a X1A 45 that I just cerokoted. The 45 was my main carry gun for about 10 years. I've always found them to be dependable. Hey, if they are good enough for the Spanish army...
ReplyDeleteNice guns. I own two one in stainless. They shoot nice. Expect to have to replace the recoil spring soon, but other than that, they work like a champ.
ReplyDeleteYou'll find a pair of tweezers useful if you detail strip it.
Not a locked breech, just blowback, but the lockwork is pure JMB.
Enjoy
So, no drama with the Llama?
ReplyDeleteNever shot any, but I remember what was said of Llama and Star in the 70's...
ReplyDelete"They are like little girls - when they're good, they're very very good, and when they're bad they're HORRID!"
(I don't remember the source - Guns Magazine?)
Regardless, sounds like you've a good one!
gfa
I think you should name it "Lorenzo"

Nice find!
I saw a stainless lever-action in .44 mag and told myself if I owned it, I'd name it 'Thumper'...
I learned to shoot with one of those. I loved it. The slide eventually cracked, I think. We shot the hell out of it.
ReplyDeleteRob K: it does look marvelous.
ReplyDeleteYou need a velour covered holster for it.
ReplyDeleteA 'Hairy Llama'....
