This pic is in serious need of a scale reference. Imagine my state of mind upon initially viewing it thinking each of the little not-quite-meat blocks were a can of SPAM. The mind boggles.
Aside: I detest SPAM but it is in my SHTF pantry. Hard times...
With my mental scale adjusted, it looks like a nice meal.
Yikes! Yes, at that scale, it's scary. These were 3/8" or smaller cubes.
I don't dislike Spam but the salt can be overwhelming. Cooking it with potatoes and fresh mushrooms do a great deal to mitigate it, even though the meat goes (along with the mushrooms) in well after the potatoes. If you get it a little browned, it's pretty decent. This stuff could have had a couple of eggs scrambled into it if it needed to be stretched
Spam, canned corned beef, canned chicken, salmon and tuna are in my emergency supplies and I try to rotate the oldest into meals rather than waste it. I like salmon patties quite a lot -- mixing in egg, crushed soda crackers, onion and celery makes them a real treat. Canned chicken is pretty bland but it enhances dehydrated chicken noodle soup.
