Thank A Soldier

Thank several. Thank 'em all! Here's how. It's a simple sign gesture -- a word without sound.

As shy mumbler, this appeals to me greatly.

Thanks to Ride Fast!

  1. The problem with mouthing "Thank you" is that it's indistinguishable from mouthing "F*ck you." It might be better to just make the sign, but don't mouth it. This is one of those odd sign language/lip-reading things.

(Sorry for the f-bomb on my inaugural comment, but I couldn't say what I wanted otherwise.)

  2. It's a good reminder, "f-bomb" notwithstanding.

  3. Very cool.

I've always found that a thumbs-up with a mouthed "thank you" does the trick. Also works through auto glass when cops are directing traffic after a tornado...

  4. Seen this before, and like it a lot.

    You, shy?

    Damn.

  5. Shy in a "I can't talk to strange men" way. Strangers in general but men even more so -- sometimes I literally cannot speak. This can socially limiting.

  6. Sorry, didn't mean to sound snarly, it wasn't intended that way at all. I usually associate shyness with lack of self confidence and you certainly have no reason to ever experience that.

  7. Perhaps you should seek out men who are not strange.

    And their unicorns.

I've been doing the sign for a while, more and more service people recognize it. Thank you for the publicity.
