Punked Out

...On visiting the outdoor range this morning.  There's snow on the ground, which Tam calls, "Perfect training weather!"  I'm not fond of it but I can cope.  Combined with sinuses that do not want to be here, however, it's a recipe for frustration.  I'll shoot another day or perhaps indoors, later.  In the meantime, I have plenty to do around the house -- and no excuse not to do it.

Still an' all, I would have liked to shoot the little Ruger .22 pistol some more.  Maybe later.

  1. I have sinus problems too and have found the most wonderful, amazing little pills - Tylenol Sinus Congestion and Pain Rapid Release. For a long time I'd take nothing and suffer because I'm sensitive to medications and the side effects would end up being worse than the original malady. But these pills? No side effects and they work.

    Good luck!

  2. Sinus thing is weird for me-- sometimes intense cold feels like an oxygen lance in my headbone. Yeowch.

My pistol club had a women's day shoot two weeks ago, and it was the first bitingly cold day of the year. I admit i HATED working in the cold, but then I realized this was really good practice for me in terms of self-defense-- those who would victimize me are not thinking in terms of giving me ideal conditions to protect myself. After a couple hours in the cold, I felt stiff and like I'd had a serious workout, but it was a really good thing.

BUT, if I were much more adept with my firearms, I might have skipped the brutal cold in favor of lazing about with my fur hot-water bottles cleverly disguised as pups.

  3. I did my turn in the cold last week, and paid for it in reduced agility, a price I can't afford two weeks in a row.

Sinuses I can usually tame with the Neti pot (for all it makes Tam shudder) but given the timeframe of my morning, it was the last straw.

  4. Wish you could have joined us but I understand. It was not as cold as I expected but the snow was cool.

When we left to find biscuits and gravy somewhere, everyone was still blasting away.
