Very cool. We saw Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian last night, and during the Wright Flyer scene in the Air and Space Museum I caught a glimpse of SpaceShip One.
SpaceShip One and the Saturn V are each in their own way the pinnacle of human achievement (okay, public human achievement, not counting the Hidden Frontier).
If you get a chance to go there, it is quite a sight to see The Spirit of St. Louis, SpaceShip One, and Glamorous Glennis hanging together. Never mind the million other exceedingly cool things they have on display there.
It was probably about 20 years ago now but Barb, another couple, and I visited the Smithsonian. I spent three days in the Air and Space museum and still didn't get to see everything. The rest of the gang said they saw everything in the Air and Space museum as well as numerous others... Yeah, right.
I agree; if you go because you're the sort of person who wants to, allot at very least two or three days each. I mean, the NASM in Washington, the Udvar-Hazy annex, and the USAF Museum. You could complete a walking tour in a day each, but good luck having time to actually absorb anything.
Also the usual stuff, lots of batteries, good shoes, etc.
This is a part of what Jeff Rutan and I whistled up in three (death-march!) days for Burt's birthday last year. Music changed to prevent copyright lawsuits... (It was "Clear All Moorings" from the Trek movies)

ReplyDeleteRocket Park in Huntsville is impressive too. But you can cover it in a few hours.
