Uh-oh

(Which is something the Littlest Cat stands in the hallway and says, by the way. Middle of the night, clear as a bell, "UH-oh!" It usually means "I want in your room!")

Phlegmmie has me looking at shoes. There is not the least chance I could get away with that pair, not at 5' 9"+ and especially not with my bad knee. With extremely high arches and insteps, I cannot buy shoes without trying them on first anyway. But they're on sale! ;) There's always these or the nice Ferragamos here, I spose. But these are more useful for work and riding!

...It's back to the salt mines for me. In Keen's practical closed-toe sandals.

  1. My wife likes the Keens except her pinkie-toe sticks out and can get dangerously hooked, so she likes these Tevas better. I have two pairs of those Keens for sailing - they get heavy after a while compared to the best flip-flops in the world.

  2. I would love to see what you would wear with those Victorian repros. I'd lay money you'd be quite a lovely vision, not to mention a jaw dropper.

  3. What's wrong with a pretty, tall girl who gets a bit taller? I used to have a girlfriend who was as tall as I am (5' 10") and who would wear 3" heels, which made her significantly taller than me.

I enjoyed every minute of those 6 months. :-) My wife still will not tolerate the mention of her name, because every time I do I get this idiot grin on my face.

  4. ....How in HELL does someone whose feet were not bound as a child fit into those booties?

  5. I miss the little Dowager Princess kitty! :(

(WV = "puringl". Tater chips for cats.)

  6. LR: they buy the size that fits? Wait, which ones, the first ones? Those are just OMG heels. Not that big a deal if the toe box is properly made -- Ghu help you if it's not, which is usually the case.

Blunt-toe 1940s platform heels are some of the most comfy dress shoes you can find -- when you can find them.

Freeholder: My ex did not so very much approve. He was 5' 8". Guess I am extrapolating from a limited sample.

  7. DirtCrashr: I tried the Tevas but the Keens work better for me. OTOH, the minimalist Teva sandals are my preferred house shoes. Zero toe protection, alas.

  8. Tam: The cats miss you, too!

I was letting my cats enjoy some sunshine on my bed this afternoon, and left the hall door ajar while in the basement. Came back up to find three cats on the bed, with every evidence of a peaceful truce. I let them be. After awhile, Rannie decided it was Too Weird and left. I think she gets a little lonely.

  9. At 6'5", you'd get my seal of approval. (For whatever that may--or more likely--may not be worth to you. ;) )

WV: "ansin" ... Actually, I think I'll just leave that one alone.

  10. Roberta: the last pair of shoes I bought were a pair of Vibrams. I don't think any team of wild horses is getting me into one of those rigs any time soon...

I still need to find a well-made pair of cowboy boots for dress purposes, though. In the Informal State, they're perfectly acceptable high-end attire.
