Error!

Aw, rats. A cat just threw up on my keyboard. Typed this on the membrane, but it is slow. Washed the keyboard. Later! As you can see, it is now "later." This keyboard is very good for washing -- the keys themselves are purely mechanical, with membrane switches hidden underneath. I would not have suspected it from the keyboard feel.

  5. Reminds me of some calls I got while doing tech support; in one, a customer put his keyboard in the dishwasher; you can imagine the result. In another a woman washed her mouse in the sink, then tried to dry it in the microwave, and was calling up to complain about the result.

  6. I spilled a glass of water into a Sony notebook once. It turned off real fast. Sony said it was out of warranty and would cost $950 to repair.

Using instructions via Google, I took it apart and the mother board out, gave it a rubbing alcohol bath courtesy of Walgreens and then left it to dry in the midday summer Phoenix sun.

Reassembled, it booted up just fine.

But cat puke ... that's something else.
