Hospital 5 (From Home)

We did go up and see Mom; she was on a ventilator, still under and had an impressive collection of IVs. Her day-shift nurse is one of the impressively fit, hyper-competent young men one encounters (sometimes) in nursing, the sort of guy that had the balance tilted a bit away from nurturing instead of towards it might have been a policeman or a Marine.

Word was she'd be vent-tubed and out of it for a long time, so I stayed awhile, went home, ate, laid down "for just a minute" and slept for five hours.

I'll go back up in the early morning.

  5. Expect a very much in pain and out of sorts Mom in the morning. But it is reasonably certain that she will get over the pain and be a much improved version of the old Mom in a few weeks.

  9. Arriving late here. Glad to hear that the surgery and post-op has gone well. Best wishes for a speedy and easy recovery.

My uncle had heart valves replaced about 25 years ago (mechanical so he's been on anti-coagulants since) and he's still going strong.

  10. You are both in my prayers. If the weather gets to crap and you need a four wheel drive to get out, just call.

  12. I helped my partner through a triple bypass. The doc told me to do one thing, stay healthy. He was saying I'd be really active in helping her recover
and thats how people get sick themselves.

Good luck to Momx, and get your rest.
