A Thing I Have Learned

If you go back to sleep because you woke up with a headache (and you can, 'cos you're on vacation), it's only worse when you wake again two hours later.

Ibuprofen, take me away!

  1. Is your neck crooked into an odd position? Are you breathing too shallow - not getting enough oxygen? Breathing into a pillow or confined space (trapped CO2)?

  2. I have a little trouble with the spine at my neck, but this is my usual pseudo-migraine headache, for which a good analgesic is the sovereign remedy -- if I will bestir myself to get up and take one.

  3. I have no 100% cure for me (I wish I did for me and honestly for you, to) but I've discovered that if I wake early and discover that I have a headache and then just fall back to sleep in the same (probably wrong) position, I'll wake again with the headache even worse.

If I have the mind to do it when I wake early, I'll re-position myself to make sure my neck is supported right, extended from my shoulders, and that I'm not breathing used air. Usually there is then an improvement when I get up later.

If you try this and it helps, I'll be happy to have helped you stave off a headache. (At least one. More would be gravy.)

  4. One thing I found after suffering weekend headaches and not being able to stop them. I found it can be caused by Caffine withdrawl. All my working week I would drink a lot of coffee and leave it alone on the weekends. One old experienced RN told me I was getting the headaches from lack of caffine.
So Now when I am getting a headache coming on I usually will take a caffine pill. I usually buy a store generic brand. I pill is supposed to be equal to what is in a cup of normal coffee. It still works for me even tho I do't guzzle coffee, being retired. Might look into it. Working days and off days, when do the headaches show up. Good Luck...
