Channel-surfing through newscasts, I hit a local news ad on the last-place station: "...tragedy in Aurora. Tune in at 11 to learn how local authorities are handling the situation, and how moviegoers are handling themselves."
Um, no.
You'd think they'd take, what, thirty seconds to double check what they'd written, given the gravity of the situation -- not to mention the breathless manner in which every TV newsie and pundit down to the janitor is telling us over and over just how terrible it is (like we wouldn't know?). You'd be wrong.
I don't blame you for not linking. This is a snip from a local interview;

My guess is he tossed in a flash-bang of some sort. And started with the shottie. It was just one read interview, from a local station. William Arthur Tango Bravo dot.
Sounds like they were blending in coverage of what's his name caught handling himself in a Hollywood theater to the Aurora coverage.

ReplyDeleteI have this feeling half the people at the theater I went to had not heard about it. Of course, some of the guys (and gals) looked like the asocial types that go to the comic book movies first thing on opening day.....wait, that hits a little close to home.
ReplyDeleteNo news crew at my theater; it is possible they may have set up some reaction shots for the 5/6/10 pm news at a bigger theater chain at a later time. Too bad, this is the one issue I wouldn't have looked like a reject on.
The local news in Corpus Christi is reporting that our new police chief had plainclothes officers in the theater and SNIPERS ON THE ROOF before Aurora happened. Welcome to the police state.
