Good Fiction

....And an "Oh, dammit." I just discovered Kage Baker's "Company" yarns recently;* and this morning I find out she's been gone awhile already.

Ave, Ms. Baker, and thanks for the works you've left us.

  1. I read The Garden of Iden years and years ago and loved it, never could figure out what the rest of them were though I wanted to continue reading the series, and eventually forgot about them.

Now, Wiki tells me what all the novels are.... and I'm broke so I can't get them. Figures.

Bookmarked anyway, for later resolution. Thanks for reminding me of a set of stories I always wanted to finish!

  2. There is something incredibly sad about discovering a new author only to learn they've passed. With my luck, it seems to usually happen with people who only ever published one or two novels.

  3. I have trouble finding living authors I like -- many of the "new" ones I have found through the years, like Stephen Robinette or Tom Reamy, were already gone.

We're temporary. I'm glad some of have left thoughts and words behind for the rest.

  4. I loved Sky Coyote. Read a couple of others, didn't enjoy them so much.
