Win'try DOOOOOOOM!

After two mild winters in a row, Ma Nature has plenty of fight saved up and if the meteorological prognosticators are correct, we're in for it, a classic howling white hell of a snowstorm -- and the path of devastation already laid down by the storm would appear to be all the confirmation anyone could want.

If they wanted any at all.  --Or would accept any.  After two winters of TV weathermen persons crying wolf any time two or more snowflakes flaked and sending reporters sixty miles out to share video of lawns covered in a rich, velvety dusting of snow like powdered sugar, I'm not entirely certain people will take the warning seriously.

That could be bad: this thing is looking like the real deal, the pure quill, pure as driven-- well, you get the picture.  If you live around here and you find yourself mined to pick up the makings of French Toast -- eggs, milk and bread -- this may actually be the time.  Wouldn't hurt to pick up a bag of kitty litter, too, and leave it in the car.

  2. Well, it's only been 35 years since the last big blizzardy storm hit here. So I guess that was long enough.

Sadly, unless the 'tubes go down, I get to work regardless.

  3. Wet Christmas here. Some snow in outlying areas, but it mostly kept ti the mountains. Which is fine, since I had to work.

  4. Unpossible! Everyone KNOWS that we are in the midst of UNDENIABLE GLOBAL WARMING, and we are all are going to FRY in the January Drought!

I know this is TRUE, because Al Gore said so!

  5. Six to eight inches of snow from last weeks blizzard still on the ground, and two or three more due in the next days or two. Temps are in the single digits in the mornings, rising to a balmy 15-20F before the sun goes down again.
Typical winter here, if a little early for the low temps. Maybe it's time to dust off the ice fishing gear, since the lakes will be solid enough to drive on soon.

  6. Your Cheesehead neighbor to the northwest is still digging out of the 18" of global warming he received on 20-21 December. The power outage was just an additional gift sent by the Mayan deities for good measure...
