ReplyDeleteDuring the early hours of the Hungarian Revolution, my Father told me that they got their first guns by ganging up on lone cops using pipes and rocks, then "Lather, Rinse, Repeat" until they had enough to take over a Police Station and get it's Armory. That continued until the Hungarian Army got into the act and joined the Revolution.

Hard to hold off a T-54 with a PPsh Subgun, you know. But they did it long enough for about 250,000 people to escape to Austria.
Which isn't bad for a country about the Size and Population of Indiana.
So they could have used those 3D Pistols in the early days, but for Long Term Armored Warfare? Not so good.
But sometimes one can't get rid of the Jack Booted Thugs. Again for example, Hungary. First it was the Austro-Hungarian Empire, then Admiral Horthy's Fascist "Regency," then the Nazis, then the Russians, who set up a Puppet Gooberment until things fell apart in the late '80s.
So you had 4-5 Generations of People who couldn't Vote out the Bums because there was No Vote that would count. And since a Police State only gives Guns to whom the Bosses "Allows," well.....
The whole point of the one-shot pistol is to use it to shoot someone who has a real gun, so you can take it for yourself.
ReplyDeleteThat was the raison d'être behind the FP-45 Liberator pistol. Nobody expected them to be used for long-term purposes; they were intended for use by local resistance members.
If the Chinese need do download plans from the Internet in order to make a zip gun, then we don't have much to fear from them.
