Cue The Spooky Music: Government Admits There Is An "Area 51"

Gee, and the Russians have only been taking photos of it for 50-plus years!  Yes, citizens, there is an Area 51.

...Alas, this does totally demolish my theory that they had it on the books as a Naval Air Station, thus allowing USAF to honestly claim it wasn't one of theirs.  Oh, well.

  1. Guess they wanted to come clean before some idiot do-gooder outed them.

More likely they're just not doing anything interesting there any more. Or maybe that's what they want us to believe?

  2. David Duchovney should post a YouTube video of him doing the Superiority Dance...

  3. Dave H: I'm given to understand that the most secret stuff was moved to a base in Utah some time ago -- a location that is not only more remote than Groom Lake, but also was a chemwar base. VX attracts a lot fewer people than UFO.

The real reason they let slip confirmation of Area 51 might be pretty prosaic -- there were some hazmat lawsuits over exposure to very toxic smoke from burning trash at the base quite a few years ago. Most of them were thrown out but perhaps the last few loose ends were finally resolved? The .gov looked pretty silly sitting in court refusing to confirm or deny that the base in question even existed.

  5. Have they admitted to Hanger 31 at Writ-Pat yet? When they do...then I'll be a true believer. :-)
