Yes, There's More Snow Tonight!

How much snow?  Possibly four inches -- or as many as ten.    Maybe even over a layer of ice.  And it'll start just in time for rush hour!

I'm giving serious thought to packing a blanket and my spare jammies; there's a shower hidden away on a second-floor back hallway at work and I already have a toothbrush in my valise.  There aren't any really great places to sleep but one advantage to what I do for a living is one gets to know where the quieter corners are and has keys to several of them.

It's not just me, is it?  This really is a middling-sucky winter, isn't it?

  1. Not just you.

I've had to plan grocey shopping and daily walks around the weather for weeks.

Stock up when I can, knowing I might not get another chance for a while.

    Thank goodness for Clarence Birdseye!

  2. I found an army style folding cot at the local Farm & Fleet that packs up pretty small. It's lived in the trunk most of the winter. If I end up spending the night at work it'll get unfolded in a store room.

Cost me less than thirty bucks.

  3. I dunno. Reminds me of winters when I was a kid back in the '60s.

  4. starting to get a few flakes here. (And, no, I'm not referring to Seattle voters...)

I think this is actually the first of the year.

First IN a year, that is.

See, that's Seattle for you: Finally getting around to having some snow in solidarity with the rest of the country. We're so passive-aggressive, someone at work spotted a guy wearing a Denver Broncos cap, and we all ignored him...

  5. Certainly not just you. I'm over this whole winter thing.

  6. It's 21 degrees and snowing here. They are already closing the schools. I think they said something about 5 inches. I've gotten to the point that I don't care. Let it snow, the idiots will descend on the local grocery stores and buy up all the bread and milk. I grew up in Michigan, where it really snows.

I spent a good portion of my life in Texas. We rarely got snow, but when we did, I would go out and watch the festivities. There nothing funnier than watching a born and bred Texan trying to drive in the snow. Most winters all we got was ice.

It's just 44 days until spring.

  7. Middling-sucky? No, it's full on sucky, no middling about it.

  8. It snowed here, too, last night!

I mean, it didn't stick to the roads or anything, but I had to scrape it off the windshield this morning, and the dirt in the front yard is covered in white stuff, now.

  10. It isn't just you, the winter is very sucky, not just a bit. Several inches more snow is forecast for SE Michigan, and it's supposed to be far worse just south of us. My drive is deeply rutted ice because of the slight thaw last Saturday, I don't know what it'll be like if we get much snow on top of it.

    Oh, well....

  11. 5" and still coming down here -- took me an hour to drive seven miles. Got through the garage and looked out: sidewalk, covered. It wasn't until I took a broom to it that I realized Tam had shoveled it already but the snowfall was just that fast. I should have caught on more quickly, since I was in the grocery for twenty minutes and had to clear snow from all the car windows when I went to head home.

  12. I assume you took the jammies and blanket. If you did not, you know you would have gotten stuck at work. (At least that is how my luck works out.)

  13. Good guess! --Actually, I have my "crash Bag" in the car all the time, with the basics for an overnight stay.
