    If slave apportionment was not in there, the slave states were ready to not join the US, and form a separate country.

    There weren't any good solutions to the slave issue. Just less bad ones.

  9. Western civilization was built on alcohol. The US, always looking out for more efficient methods, distilled the essence of the old standbys and used that supercharged fuel to charge across the continent.
