  2. I can't play music/video on my work computer here, but I'm pretty sure that came from the albom, "Time Further Out" if I remember the title correctly. I'm going to have to go home and watch the video; I didn't know that there was one contemporaneous with the album (1961 or so?).

I've tried to keep time with that tune each time I play it...

  3. Brubeck was a god!
    Saw him in the mid-70's...

He supported his Black band members, too, by refusing to play if they we forced into separate housing!

  5. Yup, that was the one from the album I remember. Had to go home and pull it out of the "trashed by the fire" album box.

If you like music with unusual time signatures you may want to try some of the older Jethro Tull. They originally started as a jazz/blues fusion band before they went "prog-rock" (whatever that means). the first couple of albums ("This Is.." and "Stand Up") reflect some of that.

One of their best recognized (if you're not familiar with them) is "Living in the Past" which is in a 5/4 time signature, and if I recall correctly was released in '69 or so.

  6. Ian Anderson, flute player and vocals. Aqualung. Nice jazz flute playing. Heard an interview with him once, he seemed a little bit stuck on himself. I guess I remember the older jazz musicians who seemed more humble and down to earth, but Jethro Tull was more Rock and Roll.
