Had A Busy Day And Yet....

I barely did anything!  Brunch with Tam and my friend the Data Viking; a quick trip to the supermarket and a few older episodes of The Expanse, followed by some minor chores around the house and here I am.

I wouldn't get too wound up over that; rumor has it that the Creator takes the weekends off.

And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the citizens of Roseholme Cottage.

The Expanse. I just finished binge-watching this over the last week or two (when season 4 came out). Now I've gone back and watched season 1 again, since it had been a year or two since I first saw it. I've really enjoyed it, but it is addicting. Listening to Belters talk is sometimes...painful.

The Belter argot is kinda different and it doesn't always work; as far as I know, the books were the first venture into writing SF by the two guys who publish as James S. A. Corey, and the temptation to invent a language is the greatest early on -- many writers who have done so (and were not named Tolkien) have later expressed regret.

I'll give 'em that. It's some of the best space opera in print and the TV series is really outstanding.

If I had to do it, I think I'd just go with Lingua Franca Nova, which is a little easier to understand.
