Lack Of Posting

I haven't posted much this week -- current events leave me struggling to keep up with the craziness of it all, from a Russian-inspired peace plan for Ukraine that's surrender in all but name to the Department of Defense* deciding the Scouts are no longer okay† to pal around with, it's an unending string of preposterous stuff, most of it at the hands of comic-opera boobs; or it would be comedy, if it wasn't all too real and therefore only sad at best to tragic at worst.

You don't need me to point it out and mocking it is pointless.

† Yes, let's see, an organization for young people that is devoted to the notions of community service, patriotism, preparedness, physical fitness, outdoors and camping skills, respect for established institutions and competent adults, why would any decent military organization want anything at all to do with that?  Scouts have had their controversies but their aim remains noble.

It appears that some reports are out that Steve Witkoff is coaching the Russkis how to suck up to and manipulate Trump.
I have no words.

I hadn't heard about the Scouting thing. So the DoD has declared Scouting to be "woke". Some of our nation's finer leaders were Scouts. As we have seen, integrity is a character trait not welcome in today's White House, at least what's left of it.

It's childish, I know, but I have the urge to scream "Fuck Trump" every time I pass a Trump yard sign or Trump flag, and I usually do. That's about all I can do until the next Election Day.

Ah, Roberta, I disagree. Mocking the craziness makes me feel better. Of course, living alone, my mocking has little effect on others. (My husband used to say, "Feel better, now?" with a smile on his face.)

I fully expect that Team R is going to come to seriously regret going all in on Trump, and shortly. Kinda like how a lot of Neocons were Always Against W and His Forever Wars come 2009.

Krugman quoted Arendt:
Totalitarianism in power invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty.
- Hannah Arendt

So he suggested: "Let me call this Arendt’s Law: Totalitarian and wannabe totalitarian regimes only hire incompetent hacks."

For instance, compare the backstabbing, empire building, & powerplays of the German Vaporware Wunderwaffe to the actual wonder weapons developed by the Allies during the war. Speer got the press, but it was people like Knudson & Oppie who got stuff developed and built.
