I've been dodging the dentist for weeks. She wants to do fillings in a couple of teeth that aren't bothering me and I would just as soon not.
We've reached the point where I can either get these teeth drilled and filled, or go hunting for a new dentist -- who will probably find even more work to do. So off I will go today.

I dodged a crown that way for two years, and finally got it done about three weeks ago. My dentist told me that I had narrowly missed needing a root canal; he'd seen two cavities on the tooth, and he discovered a third one on the back side that he hadn't been able to see before he started drilling. If I'd waited another six months, there probably would have been nerve damage, and then the fun would really have started.
If it makes you feel better, I've been avoiding the dentist for about ten years now. Ever since I noticed the "deep cleaning" demanded by every dentist didn't really help my teeth but did cost several hundred dollars a year. I do have a bothersome tooth that probably does need a root canal. But it has yet to bother me enough to make me want to see a dentist.
