Ever notice that when there is a "government shutdown" in the United
States, Congress and the Internal Revenue Service appear to be exempt?
And somehow there's always plenty of money to pay the people who fence
off the various monuments and memorials, and padlock the National
Parks....

Kind of like the National Park rangers driving up in their green jeeps to advise me that the park is closed due to government shutdown. When I asked if they were there off the clock, I was advised to 'move on'.
Seems like there is always money available for the agents of restriction, never the benevolent.
Next time this happens, I'd really like to see massive disobedience from the citizenry. Close off my parks and monuments, willya?
There was a fair amount of that the last time!
