Lazy you, Science and USA Today will have to take that up with the City -- me, I'm gonna be a good little citizen and rake up my leaves. They get real cross if ya don't and there are other issues I'd rather fight them over.
I will not, however, be raking them up today, on account of a little adventure I shall relate later.
My weekend started with wrestling the extension ladder all the way around the house getting the gutters free, and then by raking and bagging the back...one bag for the back, one for the side.
Then I dug into the leaves, literally mid-shin-deep in the front. 23 additional bags later my back was aching, and I could barely stand up straight. The Norway Maple dumped all of its leaves at once, so suddenly there should have been a ground-shaking "thud" when they hit.
They're all lined up in the back next to the alley, waiting for garbage day when the city picks up yard waste, in nice little 5-by-5 bag array. It's funny that this is the price I'm willing to pay for that tree shading the house all summer long.

Eh, municipal administrations can make one's life not pleasant, point conceded.
Best to fool 'em you're on their side, I suppose.
I hope your adventure had some fun involved...
