You Know What's Fun?

     "Fun" is exactly not when work calls you at 4:30 a.m. with a problem they should have called you about twenty hours earlier.  It was too late for an easy fix when they did call -- and they were too short-handed to fix it promptly.

That I can sympathize with. I get similar phone calls on a fairly regular (1-3x per month) basis. Other times it's "If you had told me about this when it started, I would be ordering $500 in parts with a 1 week downtime instead of $3000 in parts with a 2-4 week downtime."

On the other hand, I get a small amount of pleasure telling customers "Gonna be a week before I can get parts. Run X until it blows; you're not gonna hurt anything else."
