As Expected

Yesterday, I had to take care of the fallen leaves.  My knee has been acting up. but Tam's got a torn intercostal, and is working a lot, so it was my job.

The new electric lawnmower has a bagging attachment and does a pretty good job.  The lawn needed mowing anyway, and so -- I mowed 'em.  Filled three big leaf bags (all I had) and got all of the front yard and about a third of the back.

Didn't do my knee any good at all.  It started to hurt and was hot by bedtime.  I slept with a cold pack on it -- heck of a thing, thin sweat pants, cold pack over that, a hand towel wrapped over that and an electric blanket over all of me -- but it is worse this morning.  I'm off to soak in the tub, then try to get some things done.

I'm now buying frozen veggies with an eye towards how well they work as ice packs for my knee. I'm pretty sure that some day, when I bribe a doc to look at it, he's going to tell me to schedule surgery. I just don't have the time right now.

Warm bath. Glorious idea.

Saw a video about 'HOW TO RAKE AND BAG LEAVES THE EASY WAY' - a lot of good sense made in it. The take-aways - drill holes in trash can so air can exit when inserting bag. Inflate bag and insert into can so is already shape of can. Use two rakes to pinch them between to insert into can. And cut a plywood 'smoosher' with two pull handles and holes drilled into it so that leaves can be compacted more fully.

Nope. I bought a Black & Decker electric mower. I noticed the "mulch" setting. Thought why bag. It is fantastic! That thing eats leaves so well you cannot even see the results. Feeds the yard too so I have not fertilized in 2 years. It is a lot lighter than my old gas mower. Just the ticket for older folk.
