So, I Lost My Car Key

I lost my one and only car key, that I was meaning to add another to--

And couldn't find it.  Noticed last night at bedtime it was missing (I was absolutely sure I knew where it was, in the usual place, which means I was distracted when I put it away yesterday), searched for a couple of hours without results.  Slept, woke, and searched for six hours more.  That got me to noon and I gave up, called the dealer, called a tow service (because it's 2019 and your car has be told the new keys are friendly keys), and spent the afternoon getting my key replaced and another added, at a price that seems disproportionately high--

But it's 2019 and my car's computer only trusts the dealer's officially authorized computer.

And I still can't find that lost key!

You have cats. Try the unexpected.

When you do find it, you'll likely need to take it and the new ones back to the dealer to be reprogrammed if you want to be able to use it again.

You will find it tomorrow.

In a place you've looked at least twice...

(Don't ask me how I know this.)

Today. In a place I'd already looked three times.

CINCHOUSE lost her key a few months ago. Purchased a new one. I found the original key while moving stuff around in the garage a couple of months later.

We did not have to re-program the "lost" Key. It worked fine. So we now have a spare in the house and one on my keychain. Hopefully you will be as lucky

Usually I find something that seems to be irreparably missing when I am looking for something *different* (and also irreparably missing).

I just found the big roll of stamps that I bought back before postage went up most recently that way.

I thought I'd detected a great disturbance in The Force to the North of me...
