It was a bright day, mostly thin overcast with a few intervals of sunshine. I took the lawnmower and mowed up leaves in the front and back yards.
That was three hours ago. I made dinner -- chili as promised, and I have now learned to not add fennel seed -- and after eating, looked out the window:
Winter storm, as promised.

This is why I was prepping the snow blowers for my long driveway this morning. At 8:22, we have 3 inches and expect snow for another 4-6 hours.
Kerry
Philly is still snow free, and if the snow blower stays in the shed all season that is perfectly OK.
I was thinking of ADDING fennel seed to my next batch of chili, why did you decide to remove it from yours?
I used three meats -- ground sirloin, chorizo and mild Italian sausage. The latter already had a little fennel. I added a pinch more and it was overpowering. It did not work with the flavor profile at all.
Chorizo and ground beef for the next batch.
OK, thanks, that 'splains it...
Whoever first markets a combination snowblower/leaf shredder will make a fortune in the Midwest.
