In my line of work, one would expect a fairly consistent amount of brain matter underfoot, as one segment of the staff does seem to slough it consistently. In fact, the worst thing I encounter consistently is a nastily gummy glue that holds carpet squares (about 18") on computer floor squares (24"). It's wretched stuff but water-soluble and not especially biohazardous.
This means any shoes I wear for work must be washable. Heels are right out, at least until the next time someone brings back high-heeled tennis shoes.
Hah.... I work in a brain free environment, but do step in a lot of fallen expectations. Can you recommend a good pair of boots for that?
If I did run into a blood born pathogen at school, it would probably have an Individualized Education Plan and I'd have to hold it's hand while it learned to infect via it's preferred learning modality.
Silly girls and boys. brains a re good for leather. The very best leather is tanned in brains. Simply wipe up and dry. As for the glue, Roberta, use WD-40 on leather shoes, spray and wipe off excess every day, and the glue will never stick. (old carpetlayer's trick)

Trust me, I've lost a perfectly good pair of Italian Leather pumps due to brain matter.
It's never fun to watch them go out in the trash.

In my line of work, it's not so much the body product I step in as it is the bits I have to ingest.

Brain tanned deerhide is the very best.
God bless that gal.
As an educator, I guess I'd have to go with Carteach: "brain free environment." Sigh.
