The latest of Linoge's series of Graphics Matter charts is up, showing (and correlating) firearms ownership and crime -- and whattaya know, it turns out John Lott is still right: more guns, less crime.
When ordinary citizens own guns, crimes decrease. Why, it's almost as if criminals prefer disarmed victims! Remember that, the next time some politician claims that guns are bad, a "scourge." Whose side is he (or she) on?

In our society, reality doesn't have much luck.
Somehow I figured that out in 1968. I know that makes me an antique, but the truth hasn't changed much, the political left, are convinced that the great unwashed can't possibly be responsible for their own defense.
Well, I lost power at 10:30pm Monday Night, and just got it back at Noon today. Ever carry 24/7 for three days? Guess what? You CAN sleep in a recliner with a pistol, hoping that those Darwin Award Wannabes pass you by.
Of course, that's up here in Ohio. Now, all those people stuck in NYC with THOSE Gun Laws, well, Good Luck!
After hurricane Rita, a few nights where there was no power for hundreds of square miles, and the realization I had to sleep, I became the master of my keep. I learned to rest, while keeping alert. Absolutely nobody was a guest and anybody that tried would have met an untimely death.
It was a sobering experience, but the fact I was truly completely in charge of my safety gave me the knowledge that this is always the situation. We're all one moment of hesitation away from serious injury or certain death.
"Reality Matters"... wish I had thought of that tagline :). In any case, thanks for the linkage!
But look how much better the violent crime stats got in the UK when they banned private ownership of handguns:

As everyone on THIS blog knows, firearms have two natural enemies-- rust and politicians.....
