THANKS FOR REMEMBERING

I always remember VE Day and its tremendous significance.
Strangely, however, my reminder is that in college 8th of May was Outdoor Intercourse Day and the rhyme is embedded in my subconscious.

Was home ill yesterday...and saw something on the Military Channel called "The Day After D-Day". Was very good...the GI's and paratroopers had more courage in their little finger than I have in my whole body...

The commentator said at the end...once the beachhead was secure, the end of the war (VE day) was a foregone conclusion. Bet the GI's didn't think so at the time.

The end of the war might've been a foregone conclusions -- but the price was unknown and likely to be very high.

My Dad grew up during WW II; he had older brothers who fought and spent his Jr. High/Middle School years assuming his choices on graduation would be to enlist or be drafted. He was far from alone. That war marked way more people than we realize.
